Golf day funds will bring cheer to disabled

The 14th Annual B3 Golf Day Challenge will be held at Randpark Gold Club on Monday, October 23.

KwaThema – B3 is ploughing back into the community by holding its 14th golf day for KwaThema Stimulation Centre.

The 14th Annual B3 Golf Day Challenge will be held at Randpark Gold Club on October 23.

Last year, they managed to raise almost R500 000 for the golf day.

“I started the Stimulation Centre in 1998 with no help,” explains Miriam Ndebele.

The company believes any disability is not a once-off problem that can be solved. It is a perpetual issue that demands year-round attention and sustainable assistance to make a real impact on communities.

KwaThema Stimulation Centre caters for children from newborn to age sixteen who have disabilities.

The centre is operated and managed by parents of children with disabilities, who assist in educating the children.

“The main purpose of the organisation is to empower every child who has a special disability and to ensure his or her integration into society,” explains Ndebele.

Matthews Mogafe, director of B3, says they have about 250 confirmed players.

“Soccer legends Mark Fish and Mark Williams have confirmed their attendance as well.

The day is not only about raising funds but also about having fun.”

Mogafe says that when Mariam invited him to visit the premises in 2004, he was in tears in less than five minutes.

“Our involvement in Ekurhuleni is not restricted to this institution,” adds Stanley Mathonzi, chief executive officer of B3.

Regional director Demist Mogafe says they are in the process of identifying other locations for a similar institution outside of KwaThema.

“We want to serve all the communities in which our brand operates.”
