Joint venture discover cable theft in Etwatwa

“Eskom tried to disconnect illegal connections but community attacked them".

Daveyton – A large number of electrical cables were recovered during a joint venture by the EMPD, SAPS and Eskom at Extension 18, Etwatwa in Daveyton, on Tuesday.

EMPD spokesperson, Clifford Shongwe, says most of the cables were found underground at an open field near Shamase ground.

“Such connections pose a serious danger to children and people if they come into contact with them.

“When Eskom tried to disconnect illegal connections, the community attacked them.

“That is why this time around there was a joint operation that included police

“Cable theft is illegal and those found responsible will face the law,” he says.
