Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates ready to log horns

“We don’t want a repeat of the last game where two people died and 17 were injured in July."

KwaThema – Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs supporters in Langaville branch are optimistic about the upcoming league game.

The two teams from Soweto will be logging horns at FNB stadium on Saturday.

Kaizer Chiefs supporter Teka Matsepane says they are hopeful they will win their first home game on the weekend.

“We haven’t won any game on our home grounds since the league started.

Matsepane says unlike other supporters, he doesn’t blame the coach for poor performance on the field.

“Steve Kompela doesn’t have any materials to work with and the technical team is not prepared to sign new players.

“Our faith now lies on the newly signed striker, Gustavo Paez, who is aggressive on the field; we believe they will win 2:1.

“We will also bank on the fact that most of the players Pirates have are new and still trying to familiarise themselves with the team,” he says.

Teka says they are calling on the supporters to be at the stadium early to avoid stampedes.

“They must not go to the stadium when they are drunk or don’t have tickets.

“We don’t want a repeat of the last game where two people died and 17 were injured in July.

“We are also calling on the law enforcement agencies to carry out their responsibilities with diligence and those who break the law to be immediately removed from the stadium,” he says.

Orlando Pirates supporter Rangwane Makgabutlane says they are ready to reclaim their victory.

“Christmas is over; we are no longer giving away goals to our opponents.

“We are ready to fight to redeem ourselves on the field and we will win 2:0.

“We have trust in our goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands to keep the goals out of the goal post,” he says.

Rangwane also urged Pirates supporters to be on their best behaviour at the stadium.
