Trio arrested in connection with deputy principal’s murder

They are facing charges of murder and possession of unlicensed firearm which is suspected to have been used during the commission of the crime.

Duduza – Three men were denied bail by the Nigel Magistrates Court, after they appeared in connection with the murder of Edalinceba Primary School deputy principal, Mswazi Nyembe, on Tuesday.

The trio aged between 45 and 23 were arrested on Monday after police followed leads from the community in Tsakane and KwaThema.

They are facing charges of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm which is suspected to have been used during the commission of the crime.

Duduza police spokesman Sgt Harry Manaka says they appreciate the help of the residents in tracking down the suspects.

“Through working together with the police we will be able to successfully remove criminals from our streets and keep the community safe.

“The investigations are still continuing,” he says.

Nyembe was shot and killed on the school grounds last week Tuesday.

It is alleged the men entered the school premises claiming they were electricity technicians, but before the deceased reached the reception area to attend to them, he was hit by four bullets to his upper body.
