Watch: Local company creates web series to empower youth in townships
A local company brings to you a 10-episode web series, Thesha, which aims to empower the youth in townships.
The web series was launched on September 24, in Dawn Park, during a free event which had performances, aerobics and live streaming of the online drama series.
The web series will be made available on YouTube (Thesha Web Series) over 10 weeks.
The first episode was launched on YouTube, the same day. Each episode is about 10 minutes long.

Thesha, which is Kasi slang for ‘work’, explores the vibrant spirit of youth entrepreneurship in modern-day South Africa and the challenges that the youth face just to see their dreams come true.
The idea to do Thesha was the brainchild of a new young company which saw the unlimited opportunities that presented itself in the growing internet infrastructure around them.
They had content they wanted to share and inspire the unemployed youth in the township.
Their goal was to produce content they could share with urban youths around the world and inspire the local unemployed youth in the township to look to other avenues for generating income in a legal way.
Thesha seeks to share opportunities with the youth and to show them new and proactive, innovative and legal ways of making money in this ever-changing world.
“We are over halfway to our first milestone of one thousand views by the end of the week,” said Nkululeko Ziggy Ravuku.

Synopsis: Two best friends, both unsure about their future in terms of formal education and employment, set out to carve their own path by getting into the music business, from sound equipment rentals to starting a recording company.
But the path to success proves to be a dangerous road filled with hard choices and temptations of money, sex, violence and betrayal.
The question is, will their friendship survive the treacherous road of entrepreneurship or will they fall through the cracks of the system?
