“The little that we are sharing with them today is to say we appreciate them for the work and role they play in the community".

KwaThema- Twenty women in ward 74 received grocery packages as part of the Women’s Day celebration on Wednesday.

The groceries were delivered by the ward committee members in the area.

Ward Clr Thulani Simelane, says they received a R5 000 donation from a local construction company.

“We decided to use the money to spoil some of the women from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“Some of these women don’t celebrate the day because they don’t have anything or people in their lives to show them love and appreciation.

“The little that we are sharing with them today is to say we appreciate them for the work and role they play in the community,” he says.

One of the beneficiaries, Lillian Shopo, says she is unemployed and only works odd jobs twice a week.

“I am happy that I am one of the few people who was selected to benefit from the donation.

“This will go a long way until we reach the end of the month to afford the next groceries,” she says
