Suspect shot dead by police during an attempted hijacking

An attempted kidnapping and hijacking led to one suspect being shot and killed.

KwaThema – Father and daughter were kidnapped during an attempted hijacking of the vehicle they were driving in.

It is alleged that the incident occurred at Interland, Sector Two, Mtaka Street.

KwaThema police spokesman, Captain Thabo Sibuyi, says the man’s wife claimed that they were sitting inside the house when she heard her 26-year-old daughter screaming outside.

“When she went out to check what was going on she saw three unknown men pushing her husband and daughter into the husband’s white sedan, Jaguar XF, as they reached their home.”

The men also had a firearm and drove off with the vehicle with the husband and child.

“The wife then immediately phoned the police to report the incident. The vehicle was later recovered in Thembisa while the husband and daughter were unharmed.

“In the twist of events, one suspect was shot dead by the police at Thembisa during the recovery of the vehicle,” he said.
