Body of KwaThema woman found after being raped and killed

KwaThema - Residents of KwaThema woke up to an horrific scene, when the body of Annah Eiman (52), was found at the gate of her rented home on Sunday.

It is alleged the woman had come from a local tavern a few houses from her rented home.

The body was found by one of the residents, who was on his way home from a night vigil and immediately called other neighbours to the scene.

Springs police spokesman, Captain Johannes Ramphora, says she was found half naked.

“Her underwear, a R10-note, black hat and house keys were found near the body.

“Her face was covered with bloody injuries,” he says.

Ramphora says none of the neighbours heard any noises of people fighting outside until they were called by the first witness.

The deceased’s daughter, Renya Eiman (30), says she last saw her mother in the afternoon when she was visiting her in Wright Park.

“Annah was certified dead at the scene,” he says.

Ramphora says they opened a case of murder and no one has been arrested.

“We are calling on the residents to help with the investigations and contact us on 011 365 5819/20,” he says.

Community member Martha Chauke says this has left the community in shock and scared for their lives.

“If these people are now targeting people from our neighbourhood we are not safe.

“We leave for work in the early hours of the morning when it is still dark and come back very late in the evening.

“We now have to look over our shoulders because we are scared we might fall victim,” she says.
