Young people donate to the less privileged

KwaThema - Live@Kasi Events donated clothes, shoes and school textbooks and other reading books to St Martin Organisation on Wednesday.

They obtained the items both by collecting donated goods and by holding a fund-raising event.

Event organiser Lesedi Mthombeni (25) says they hosted a charity flea market event on April 29.

“We encouraged the audience to donate anything that they are not using.

“After the event we received positive feedback from the community who immediately started donating stuff.

“We will be hosting another event in three months and we will identify another centre to donate to,” he says.

Lesedi says that they are encouraging community members to support their initiative.

“We are trying to contribute towards making a difference in people’s lives, especially those who vulnerable,” he says.

St Martin Organisation manager, Happy Sibanyoni, says they were happy that they were identified as one of the beneficiaries of the project.

“The centre works with vulnerable and orphaned children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“Through the help of the community we will be able to change the lives of those who are less fortunate,” she says.
