Truck driver hijacked

Tsakane - A truck driver (28) was hijacked on Friday evening along the R23 Heidelberg Road after passing the robots.

Springs police spokesman Captain Johanness Ramphora says it is alleged that the complainant saw a VW Polo marked as a police vehicle make a U-turn at the robots and follow in his direction.

“They used the blue lights to stop him.

“The men, who were wearing khaki uniforms, instructed him to provide his driver’s licence and passport.

“He was then ordered to go to their vehicle, where they pointed a firearm at him and told him to lie down.

“The men drove off with the truck and the victim. They dropped him off at an open veld, where he was rescued by another motorist who took him to the police station.

“The stolen truck is a white freight liner with registration number FS 86 LZ GP: Trailer BT 10 PS GP,” he says.
