KwaThema organisation funds students

KwaThema - Established less than a year ago, KwaThema Socio Economic Organisation (KTSEO) has already funded the registration fees of 42 students from Kwatsaduza, in different institutions around South Africa.

“I am amazed at the amount of work that we have been able to achieve in such a short period,” says Andries Nkabinde, communications manager at KwaThema CCC and one of the directors of the organisation

“In August last year, we came together, as achieved professionals from KwaThema, to see how we can assist the youth to better themselves. And that is how KTSEO was born.”

Gwen Bam, who sits on the education desk of the organisation, encouraged the students to do well and make the whole community proud.

“Don’t forget why you are in those institutions.”

One of the sponsored students, Edward Leshela, says the funding has made a big difference in his life and he is very grateful.

“I have been hustling to put myself through school for the past few years. I see how hard my mother works and I hope that soon I will earn enough so that she can retire,” he adds.

Busisiwe Mahlangu, who is in her second year of an information science qualification at Unisa, says access to computers and the internet is still a challenge in the community.

“There are computers at the library, but they tell us they don’t work.”

The sentiment was shared by most of the students.
