Taxi blockades on the R24 and R21 cause chaos

Massive road blocks, caused by taxi drivers, on the R21 and R24 are causing chaos on the highways.

The R21 toward O.R Tambo International Airport is also affected.

The blockade has been set up by metred taxis, allegedly protesting action against the Uber taxi service.

SAPS, metro police and other services are aware of the situation and are monitoring it carefully.

Motorists travelling in either direction on these two highways are advised to take an alternative route.

According to our Caxton colleagues on the ground, the roads through Boksburg, Kempton and all surrounding areas are also being blocked.

We are told there are no easily accessible routes to the airport, as people already on these roads attempt to find alternate paths to their destinations.

Let us know if you have been affected by this taxi blockade and to what extent.
