Fuel price increases imminent
With a series of fuel price hikes expected in the new year, the Automobile Association (AA) confirms the first fuel jump for January.
“The Rand has weakened against the US dollar since mid-December, while international petroleum prices have continued their upward march,” the association says.

The AA observes that if international petroleum prices had remained unchanged from November, South African fuel prices would actually have dropped by around 2c a litre in the new year.
Instead, petrol is expected to increase by 51c a litre, diesel by around 40c and illuminating paraffin by 43c at midnight tonight (Tuesday).
