Easy clay ornaments recipe

This salt dough ornament recipe is easy to make.

If you’re looking for a fun project to do with your children for the holidays, this is it.

The best part is that after all the fun is over you have decorations for your Christmas tree, and possibly a gift for the grandparents, too.

Once baked, decorate the ornaments in cheerful colours before you hang them in the tree.

The recipe is easy to follow.

Ingredients

4 cups flour

1 cup salt

1½ cups warm water

Method

Preheat oven to 165 degrees C.

Mix flour and salt well.

Gradually add water, stirring with a large spoon.

Finish mixing with hands.

Knead until soft and pliable.

Roll out on floured surface about 3mm thick.

Cut shapes with cookie cutters.

Place on sprayed baking tray.

With a toothpick make a hole in the top of the ornament for threading string.

Bake until hard or about one hour.

Decorate with paint and varnish to preserve.
