Thokozani Thabethe in Grade Four earned himself third spot in the Male Athlete of the Year category.

Coach Mpumi Nkambule, who is also a teacher, took second spot in the Coach of the Year category.

The handover was held at the Gauteng East District School Sport Awards ceremony recently in Springs.

“These awards were all a result of the school’s participation in various sports over the year,” explains Nkambule.

“The school awards come after we had participated in netball, gymnastics, soccer, athletics and volleyball among other sporting codes.

“In addition, our four netball teams performed very well throughout the year at school, district, regional and provincial levels,” she says.

Nkambule says as a school they are very proud of these accomplishments following their development of more sporting codes, which they are excelling in thanks to the support of their school governing body and school management team.

She also emphasises that these awards also truly show the hard work that the teachers put in to develop young people.
