Beauties crowned at Miss Ekurhuleni East

KwaThema – Mouland Sibande (15) and Emma-Jane Lefuwa (21) were crowned Mr and Miss Ekurhuleni East last Saturday.

The pageant took place at the KwaThema Community Hall, where contestants strutted their stuff on the runway in hopes of taking the crown.

This was the first installment of the event which proved to be a success as residents filled the venue.

Organiser, Lefa Ntuli says he is very pleased with the turnout of the event as modelling was dying out in the community, where it was once very recognised in the ’80s and ’90s.

“I was very overwhelmed by the response of contestants, it proved to me that there are young people who are still passionate and interested in beauty pageants and modelling in our community.

“More importantly I’d like to thank the parents who have shown support to send their children to come and be a part of the pageants we host,” he says.

All winners received a R1 000 clothing voucher and a cellphone.

The Miss Junior category was won by Keoratile Morake (11) and the Miss Little crown went to Bathabile Mabona.

The Miss Teen category was won by Precious Moagi (16).

Lefuwa says she is happy to hold the title of Miss Ekurhuleni East because she entered the pageant to win.

“It was a very daunting feeling and also exciting to be dressing up.

“I can wait to spend my vouchers on clothing as I just completed my studies and will be job hunting so I will need new outfits,” she says.
