Locals stand out

Kwatsaduza - The Tsakane Kyokushinkan Club and the KwaThema Shotokan Karate Dojo recently competed in a tournament hosted in Turffontein.

The tournament was conducted by the United World Karate Federation of South Africa in celebration of women in sport.

“This was done in promotion of the National Women’s Cup and as males we were there to support the initiative.

“We feel very great about the performance of our students.

“We hope that this will motivate the students,” says Tsakane’s sensei Linda Ngubane.

The Tsakane Club students who participated in the tournament were Thulani Nkambule (26), Mathapelo Sibeko (14), Kamohelo Nyepetsi (13), Siyabonga Mahlangu (24), Ndinga Dyongo (14), Ntokozo Ngubane (14), Mpho Mokoena (15) and Sibongiseni Mokoena (16).

Nkambule came second in the seniors, Sibeko got position three in juniors, Nyepetsi scooped first place in juniors and Mahlangu took fourth in seniors.

In addition, Dyongo came fourth in juniors, Ngubane got fourth place in juniors, Mpho Mokoena came first in juniors and Sibongiseni Mokoena came second in juniors.

From the KwaThema Shotokan Karate Dojo, students who participated were Nomthandazo Masemula (22), Thami Banzi (8) and Sthembiso Khoza (16).

Masemula took second place in seniors, Banzi took second in juniors and Khoza took second in juniors.

The Kwatsaduza club will soon compete in a development tournament in Spruit and will attend a national tournament in Durban in October.
