Wheelchair donation for local

Tsakane – A resident of Extension 16, is happy to have the convenience to movement again.

This comes after Zama Sibiya (24) received a donation of a wheelchair she desperately needed, with the assistance of newly elected Ward 84 councillor Bongi Sibanonyi, some of the branch executive committee members of the David Mopape zone and volunteers in the area.

“I recently saw Sibiya crawling outside of her home and, when I spoke to her, she mentioned that she was in desperate need of a wheelchair.

“She added that she was having trouble accessing her grant money, hence we saw it fit to help her speedily,” says Sibanyoni.

She adds that, since this young woman is living with her siblings, as they have no parents, life is a challenge on its own and she needs her grant money.

“In addition to giving Sibiya a wheelchair, we have also managed to find a social worker to assist her, so now she is attending a clinic for her necessary treatment and has been helped to sort out her grant money issue,” Sibanyoni says.

“People normally struggle to get help from their local leaders, so we want to show care and let them know we are here to help out where we can.”

Sibiya, who is happy to have received help, says this donation will change her life after so many years of struggling to get the wheelchair.

She adds that she will now be able to go in and out of the house easily.
