Armed robbers target school

KwaThema – Three security guards at a local school were tied up, while a group of armed suspects allegedly took computers from the computer room.

According to the KwaThema police, the incident took place last Friday at around 5am.

“The complainant from the school alleges that on Thursday, at about 5pm when he left the school premises, everything was in order and all the offices were locked.

“Next morning, however, the three patrollers who are used as security guards went to his place to inform him that there was a robbery at the school.

“The guards allege that a group of armed suspects entered the guard room where they were sitting and took them to a classroom where they tied them up using shoelaces,” says police spokesman, Capt Thabo Sibuyi.

He adds that while one suspect kept an eye on the school guards, the others suspects searched the offices and classrooms.

One plasma TV, two laptops, 36 computer boxes, 36 computer screens, nine tablets, one projector and four electric plugs were taken.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery.

No arrest have been made.
