Armed suspect threatens to stab woman

Two women fell victim to an armed robbery in Monyane Street, KwaThema on Sunday.

They were walking in the street at 6pm, when two men, approached them.

One of the men looked familiar to the women.

KwaThema police spokesman W/O David Mphali says one of the suspects pulled out a knife from his pocket and threatened to stab one of the women if she didn’t hand over her handbag.

Mphali says one of the suspects is known to a community member who recognised him and took the police to the suspect’s house.

“Unfortunately he wasn’t home.”

No arrests have been made and a case of armed robbery was opened at the police station.
