Boxing club gets equipment

Tsakane - The Total Success Boxing Club is feeling grateful.

This comes after the Greater Brakpan Taxi Association donated equipment, to help with the development of the sport at the club.

“We are a club that is uniting young people from eight years old to 40 through sport.

“For this reason, we are humbled and grateful that this association could help us with the much-needed equipment.

“This will ensure our dream of continuing the sport in the township so that it lives on,” says coach Lwazi Xundu.

He adds that it is imperative to have well-equipped clubs so that the boxers can prepare properly for fights.

“Now we can be like other clubs and do better than we have been doing.

“Thank you for what this team has done for us, because if the club has nothing we will go nowhere.

“Now that we have the equipment, we just need bigger premises as we currently have 21 members who have been graded and 13 who have not graded,” he adds.

Xundu says that he is confident that these boxers can represent the country, with proper training and equipment and the right training environment.

The association donated a punching bag, head guards, gloves, hand pads and wrapping bandages.

Public relations officer of the taxi association, Abel Letsoara says when they were approached by the club, they saw it was important to give back to them.

“We want our children to be involved in positive things, especially sport, as it keeps them off the streets and away from crime.

“Hence we donated this training equipment as we want to see them participating in major competitions.

“We also love giving back to our communities, as it is through their support that we are where we are today,” he says.

Letsoara adds that this is just a start and if the club has more problems it can ask the association for further assistance.
