The crime took place at about 10.20pm on Friday while the friends were in the car listening to music.
“While the complainant (35) was visiting his friend (29), the two were sitting outside in the car.
“Two unknown men then passed the vehicle, but turned back to approach the men in the car and produced firearms.
“The third suspect also joined the scene and the suspects forced the complainant and his friend into the back seat.
“Two of the suspects sat with the two guys who were ordered to face down, and then drove with them to an open veld on the way to Nigel,” says police spokesman Capt Thabo Sibuyi.
The complainant and friend were instructed to run into the veld while all three suspects drove away in the stolen white Golf 6, with registration YWM 151 GP.
The friends also lost their phones, modem and the complainant’s bank card.
However, they were able to get help from staff at a nearby factory, where they called for help.
“No arrests have been made and no one was injured. However, the vehicle has not been recovered.
“We ask for locals to avoid parking on the roads in the middle of the night or early in the morning to listen to music, because you will then become targets of hijackers,” says Sibuyi.
