Night out turns into nightmare

KwaThema - In the early hours of Sunday morning, a 17-year-old complainant was allegedly attacked and raped.

According to police, the teenage girl had gone out to a local pub for drinks with a friend.

At about 3am, the girl left alone and while walking along Kgaswane Street, she realised someone was following her.

“The suspect grabbed the girl from behind and asked for her money and cellphone.

“When she told him she had nothing on her, the suspect got angry, slapped her and grabbed her by the hand.

“He then dragged her to an open space while he kept asking why she was walking without a phone and money,” says W/O David Mphali.

The complainant was then pushed to the ground as the suspect grabbed a brick, closed the teen’s eyes with one hand and climbed on top of her.

As the girl was lying on her stomach the accused turned her head and allegedly hit her three times on her forehead with the brick .

“The girl was ordered to be quiet while she was raped.

“The suspect went on to threaten to kill her if she spoke as he claimed to know her, then left.

“She, however, managed to stop a car and asked to be taken to the police station,” adds Mphali.

The complainant sustained injuries to her forehead, hands and knees.

A case of rape is being investigated by the police.
