Smesh-Melz follows his dream #MakingIt

KwaThema – Melusi 'Smesh-Melz' Masilela (25) has officially made a name for himself in the music industry.

Born and bred in KwaThema, the young rap artist says his home town is where his love of the music began.

“Growing up, I used to love listening to music and eventually at the age of 14 years old, I landed on the rapping scene,” he says.

He soon realised that he had a gift for writing music and being on the stage entertaining people.

This led him at the age of 15 to officially start recording his rap material.

“While busy with my performances, I started dreaming of one day becoming a professional musician.

“So I starting working hard to put my name out there and make my mark through my art,” he says.

After years of hustling, this year the rapper finally saw things coming together for him.

“So far I have managed to record two singles which are currently doing very well.

“Through hard work and perseverance, I have seen and proven that I can compete among other individuals and group artists.

“My first hit single titled ‘iKasi’ has made it to number one on a local Kwatsaduza radio station while my hip-hop and dance single called ‘Pantsula’ has also been getting massive airplay on different community radio stations,” he shares.

Smesh-Melz admits this has turned out to being a great year for him, hence he thanks all who have supported him.

“The next step for me is dedicating time to creating more relevant music, with a unique sound and taking things to the next level.

“I encourage locals to look out for my music, as I make sure I cater to various groups of people, hence I rap in different languages.

“I really hope that my music inspires and grows the music industry,” he says.
