Phomolong Ladies whip Nelly Stars 6-3

KwaThema – Playing on home soil had its own set of advantages as Nelly Stars FC competed in a home game on Saturday.

The girls opened with two goals both scored by 17-year-old Cindy Mdakane as they played against rivals Phomolong Ladies, but shortly after, the opposition made it their mission to take control of the game.

Mistakes from the home side soon cost them the lead, leaving Precious Nkosi (20), to score a goal for Phomolong in the 20th minute.

Sizanda Komane (20) shortly followed suit scoring the equalising goal of the day.

Wanting no setbacks and with the eye on the prize, visitor Gugu Mabuza (17) scored the third and fourth goals for Phomolong.

At the halftime mark, the score remained a close 4-2 in favour of Phomolong.

Phomolong came back in the second half, with a fifth goal by Lwazi Maluleke (17).

As panic settled in, Nelly Stars started making crucial mistakes which cost them the game despite Pearl Moloi (16) scoring their third goal.

Phomolong’s Komane ended the match by scoring her second goal, leaving the visitors celebrating a 6-3 win.
