Bluebirds defeat Young Tigers

Duduza – The Bluebirds Football Club from Duduza took on Young Tigers, from Wattville, in an u/15 match played on Saturday.

This Ekurhuleni Regional Junior League game took place at the Dunnottar Military Base, which is the home ground of the Bluebirds and, within the 10 minutes of the first half, the home side had made their presence felt, with Kabelo Siduna (14) scoring the opening goal.

The confidence of the Duduza players built up in the space of a few minutes, but competition intensified as both sides realised how important grabbing the three points would be.

Not long after the first goal Bluebirds were given a free kick, which was taken by Bongani Mabuza (15), who managed to bag the second goal for the day, extending his team’s lead to 2-0.

Young Tigers struggled to come back into the game as the first stanza drew to an end, leaving the score at 2-0 by half time.

As both teams went back onto the field, the players seemed more confident and the away team did not waste any time, with Sifiso Nkosi (14) registering the first goal for Tigers.

Seeing that they were in danger, Mabuza soon sneaked in his second goal for the day, putting Bluebirds at three goals.

About three minutes before the final whistle blew, Tigers’ Sabelo Mabona (14) registered the second goal for his side.

There was, however, not enough time for his side to catch up at this point.

As time ran out, Bluebirds walked away with a three-point victory as the final score remained at 3-2.
