Thunders win against Nkathazo

KwaThema – Nkathazo team competed against Thunders in a Five-a-Side League match over the weekend.

The fast-paced 30-minute game kept players on their toes with no chances for any mishap.

It was Thunders player, Neo Thipe’s quick shot at the goalpost that saw him take his side to lead position within the first half of the game.

As teams swapped sides after 15 minutes, the score remained unchanged.

The nail-biting second half had players equally utilising both sides of the field and it was difficult to see which side would walk away winners in the end, as both opponents created changes.

The defence, however, of either side remained unshaken as the teams struck to score and those watching from the sidelines could feel the tension build up as both teams shouted out strategies to break each other’s defence in the hope of winning.

At the end of the 30-minute game Thunders celebrated their three point victory with the registered one goal.

Chairman of the league Vusi Shabangu shares that the league started on April 23 and so far attendance has been awesome from the 10 teams they have.

“This style of soccer has been there for some time but we did not have it in KwaThema, hence we felt it was important to introduce it, as we saw potential and an opportunity for it to grow in our township.

“There is still space available for teams wishing to join the league,” he says.
