Seminar to enhance entrepreneurial skills

KwaThema – A Khothole Business Connect Seminar is set to take place in KwaThema next month.

The networking and information driven session, will be conducted on June 15, at the KwaThema Community Hall from 10am till late.

Event organiser Bonginkosi Sithole explains that the major intent of the event is to assist unemployed youth who have been driven into entrepreneurship to acquire proper skills of running successful and profitable businesses.

“Through research we have found that a lot of local businesses mostly don’t survive for more than two years due to lack of knowledge, challenges of acquiring funding or mismanagement of finances.

“Therefore as a follow-up to our last seminar, after seeing that some of the entrepreneurs who came, were left with more questions than answers regarding ways they had structured their business, hence this initiative is going to assist them on key points of this and on how to grow their businesses and acquiring finance,” he shares.

Sithole indicates that since his company staff are also fairly new in business, but are in the process of being mentored by other corporate companies and are gaining a lot, they also wanted to share that information and experience with others young entrepreneurs through this seminar.

“Our main goal is that we want to remove stigma of complaining among the youth but start a mentality of obtaining and taking charge of our lives.

“During the seminar entrepreneurs will be awarded with a chance to ask questions to the invited stakeholders who have been in business for over a decade.

“There will also be stalls available for any interested parties who would like to advertise or expose their business while other activities for the day will consist of company registrations and helping with the drafting of a business plan,” he says.

Event coordinator Nkosinathi Zwane believes that entrepreneurs who attend the seminar will benefit a lot as they will be given advice that will help them enhance and develop action plans for their businesses.

“It’s time we face that the government owes us nothing, so as the leaders of tomorrow, it’s our responsibility to help the government make things better.

“We encourage anyone to come as this will be a platform to network and a place where entrepreneurs will be exposed to other entrepreneurs and where they can promote their business,” concludes Zwane.
