Youth give life skills

Tsakane – Twin Plug Organisation is adamant about instilling core life skills in the youth of Kwatsaduza as they continue to present dramas around high schools in the community.

Last Friday they visited Mamellong Secondary School in Tsakane where they acted out a series of theatrical dramas to educate learners on the dangers of gangsterism, teenage pregnancy and substance abuse.

Speaking on behalf of the organisation, Sboniso Sibiya explains the importance of reiterating the dangers of these social ills in the community.

“We are still faced by the rise of gangsterism which leads our youth to experiment with substance abuse and crime.

“Every day our learners fall victim to such issues and we can no longer watch our future generation waste their bright future by making mistakes that are costly to their own lives,” he says.

The dramas acted out tackle everyday peer pressure, the repercussions of trying to fit in, bullying in schools and the disadvantages of being involved with the wrong crowd.

More importantly, Sibiya explains the pivotal role that educators and parents have to play in order to curb this phenomenon in society.

“Parents need to start playing a role so we are all able to kill the problem, which also starts at home and enters our schools and communities.

“If we all play our roles we will be able to monitor our youth and try and solve the problem,” adds Sibiya.

He further thanks all schools for opening their gates so they are able to educate learners and engage with them.

“The fight has only begun. We have to root out the problem and we can only do so if we educate and equip our youth with strong life skills,” he adds.
