24-year-old arrested for house break-in

KwaThema – A 24-year-old suspect was arrested in KwaThema recently following a housebreaking incident that took place in Extension Two.

According to police spokesman, W/O David Mphali on April 21 at about 8.45am the complainant residing at Matsipa Street, had gone out to transport schoolchildren when the incident occurred.

When he came back home with his girlfriend, they discovered that the side of the wall of the house was broken down.

Upon observation it was discovered that some of the complainant’s items were missing, including clothing, shoes, blinds and electrical appliances, among other things.

“The couple then walked around asking neighbours and passers-by if they had seen anything.

“At about 11.10 am on the same day, while the complainant was still walking around in Marikana Informal Settlement in Extension Three, he saw some males allegedly smoking nyaope behind a toilet.

“The young men were sitting next to the stolen goods and when confronted by the complainant, two of them ran away while the one who failed to run was caught,” shares Mphali.

In his defence the apprehended suspect claims that his two friends who managed to run were the ones who stole the goods and brought them to him.

The accused was arrested and appeared briefly at the KwaThema Court on April 22, but his case was postponed to May 3.
