Armed hijackers shoot man and drive off in Tsakane

Tsakane – Local police have launched a manhunt for two armed robbers who are believed to have been involved in two criminal incidents, last Friday.

According to Capt Petros Mabuza, on Friday, April 22, at about 1pm, a 23-year-old male was offloading groceries from a vehicle at his tuck shop, in Extension Six, Tsakane, when two armed men pointed a firearm at him and took cash and airtime valued at about R15 000.

About 20 minutes later, a 29-year-old man’s Golf was hijacked in Sondweni Street, Tsakane Extension Eight.

“Two armed men also approached a man who had just bought something from a tuck shop in Sondweni Street.

“As he went back to his car, he was shot in the lower body by the robbers, who took his car and fled the scene.

“The complainant was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment,” says Mabuza

He adds that the motor vehicle has not yet been recovered and that, in both incidents, an old model white Toyota Corolla was involved.

In the first incident a case of business robbery was opened, while in the second incident a case of hijacking was opened at the Tsakane Police Station.
