Armed robbers wanted

Tsakane – A 55-year-old husband (complainant) and his wife (age unknown) were robbed of R40 000 in Stimela Street, Extension 19, on Saturday.

According to Tsakane police spokesman Capt Petros Mabuza, the incident took place at about 10am, after the couple had just withdrawn the money from Tsakane Mall.

They then took a taxi to Extension 19, but did not notice anyone following them along the way.

“As the couple was walking home, two robbers, who were both armed with firearms, approached them and demanded the bag with money.

“We suspect that the couple could have been followed from the bank, or that the robbers could have been informed by someone working at the bank about the couple’s withdrawal.

“As police we advise that community members should use their bank cards to swipe, pay for anything or transfer money, as most of the shops accept bank cards,” warns Mabuza.

A case of armed robbery is being investigated by the police, and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information can contact the police on 10111, contact the Tsakane Police Station on 011 363 5347/48/49 or Mabuza on 082 331 9079.
