Zondo dies at 79

KwaThema - Former church leader Temba Ephraim Zondo died on Tuesday, at hospital, following a short illness.

Zondo was born on April 18, 1936 in Vresgewacht, kaNdolozana in Bethal.

He then started his schooling in 1946 to 1952, and in February 1956, started working at the Van Leer Company.

After 37 years, Zondo retired in 1993 from Van Leer to concentrate on the taxi business, which led to him becoming a member of the Springs Taxi Association, where he held many executive positions.

In addition to this, he was a member of the Impumalanga Holy Church in Zion and a president of the Newzealanders branch.

He served as a chairperson of the church until he met his untimely death.

Zondo leaves behind his wife Nelly Zondo, and his children Betty Lingosana, Musa Zondo and Sandile Zondo.

The funeral service will be held at the Impumalanga Holy Church in Zion, in KwaThema Extension Four in Mdebele Street at 7am on Sunday and the cortège will leave for the Vlakfontein Cemetery at 11.30am.
