Business robbery in KwaThema

KwaThema - A 61-year-old crèche principal was recently robbed of about R9 000 at gunpoint, while she was in her office.

According to the KwaThema police spokesperson, W/O David Mphali, the woman had just returned from a bank in Springs when the incident occurred, on February 16, at about 5pm.

“It is alleged that suspects followed the victim from the bank, while she had gone there to withdraw some money for the pre-school.

“As she was at the till, the teller asked about a certain male who had been in the queue but just suspiciously disappeared after she had withdrawn the money,” says Mphali.

The complainant says she then went to get on a taxi, and was dropped off at KwaThema Central.

“As she was in her creche office speaking to another lady, a male entered, produced a firearm and told her he wanted all the money that was in her bag.

“The suspect took the money and left. As he ran out, two other guys, who were outside, joined him.

“The three suspects are unknown but a case of business robbery has been opened at the KwaThema Police Station,” says Mphali.

Anyone with information regarding this case can contact Detective Constable Jerry Malek aon 011 812 4607.
