Man’s troubles keep coming

KwaThema – Simon Mkhonza (not his real name) is a wheelchair-bound resident from KwaThema who has not let his disability derail him from living his life.

The 54-year-old man says he was injured in 2011 and this tragic accident left him disabled.

But now that he is supposed to be attending to his case so he get compensation for the accident, his problems just keep piling up at home.

“I live at my grandmother’s house with my brother’s children, but things are not good as they smoke nyaope, come home late and have even stripped the house.

“We have constant fights and I don’t even know what to do anymore. All I pray for is to have peace in my life.

“Although I went to the local police for help, I was not happy with the response I received as they always release them after a couple of days,” he says.

Mkhonza adds that he fears for his life when he sees that these children have smoked, as he never knows what they will do to him.

He has even thought of leaving the house, but says he has nowhere else to go.
