Residents helped to better themselves for the job market

KwaThema – With the aim of equipping residents with skills, to help curb the high rate of unemployment, the Democratic Alliance (DA) hosted a workshop in KwaThema on Saturday.

According to Matshepo Kodisang of the DA, the skills development workshop in Ward 79 is to try help job seekers to get ready for the job market.

“We started with these workshops after hearing a lot of people complaining about unemployment.

“We then came up with ways of not giving people jobs, but assisting them with ways of how they can make their CVs stand out and educating them in ways to conduct themselves at interviews.

“It is further to share with them on what employers are possibly looking for when searching for appropriate candidates for their advertised post, so our people can have a better chance at getting the job they desire,” she says.

Kodisang emphasises that they will continue with these workshops for as long as people need them and that they will be moving around to various locations since some residents have asked for information on bursaries, running their own business and how to apply for tenders.

One of the people who attended the workshop, Aubrey Buthelezi says everything went well and he enjoyed the session.

“This has really helped us a lot as we are always saying we are struggling to get jobs we want, so through this we can say that we have gained knowledge, and when at least when the chance arises, we will be ready and know how to apply or how to make our applications stand out from among the rest,” says Buthelezi.
