Woman’s body found in Duduza

Duduza – The lifeless body of a woman was found earlier this morning in Duduza, at the Zamani Section, in the open space behind the multipurpose centre.

According to Duduza police spokesman W/O Imtiaz Yakub Rasool, residents called the police at 9.30am to report that a body had been discovered near the old council sewage plant.

“Upon the arrival of the police, they found a victim believed to be between the ages of 50 and 60 years old lying face down on a grey blanket.

“From the police’s observation, it seems as though the victim was tied up using sheets, as her hands were tied behind her back and her ankles were crossed and tied.

“She was also undressed from the waist down, which leads us to suspect that she might have been raped,” he says.

He adds that there were no possessions found on the deceased.

“So far there has been no identification of the victim and we cannot say exactly what happened, how she got to the scene.

“We are also unsure of when she might have been dropped on the scene, however, the body is not decomposed.

“The police will investigate further and a case of murder will be opened at the Duduza Police Station.

“However, if the postmortem confirms that the woman was raped, that charge will be added later on,” he says.

Rasool adds that detectives may have a lead to assist them in the identification of the woman, but so far nothing has been confirmed as there have been no reports of a missing woman at the station within the last 24 hours.
