Help create a family for the Addie’s lonely piglet

She is calling on all schools in Springs – preschools, primary and high schools – to celebrate this milestone and create a paper mâché family for her.

Schools can create as many family members as they want – classes can even compete against one another – by simply purchasing a plastic (or any other material) piggy bank and decorating it with paper mâché to make an attractive family for our little piggy.

There is no limit to how you decorate your pig, so be as creative as you like.

The judges will be looking for the most colourful, artistic and friendly pigs to keep Bridget company on lonely nights guarding the Addie offices.

We have a stock of old paper which you can collect from our offices if you need paper for your creation.

The stock we have will be handed out on a first come first served basis.

Once you have completed your pig, bring it to the Addie’s offices at 48 Fifth Avenue, Springs CBD and give it to Bridget‘s BFF Izahn van Huyssteen to be entered into our competition for the best pig in Springs.

There is no entry fee and schools are encouraged to participate in this fun challenge.

The winning schools for the best paper mâché pigs will be announced in the Addie on August 19.

All entries will be on display at Wheels and Wings at the Springs Airfield on September 10.

Rules

• Piggy banks are purchased at the expense of the entrant or school and will not be supplied or paid for by the Springs Advertiser;

• Pigs may be any size;

• There is no limit to how many entries a school can submit, provided each entry is created by different pupils;

• The competition is open to learners at schools across Springs and Kwatsaduza, or pupils living in Springs who attend school elsewhere;

• Any clothing or adornments must be securely attached so that they do not fall off or get lost before the judging;

• There will be three categories – preschool, primary schools and high schools;

• The name of the creators, their ages, school they attend or area they live in and a contact name and number for either a parent or teacher who can be contacted in the event that your pig wins;

• The pig must have a name and an age (Bridget’s family should cover all ages);

• All pigs become the property of the Addie and will not be returned to the school or pupils;

• Entries should be submitted to Izahn by close of business on August 5;

• The editor and staff of the Addie will judge the entries and award prizes according;

• Judges’ decisions are final and no discussion will be entered into;

• The Addie reserves the right to cancel this competition at any stage without notice;

• The Addie reserves the right not to announce a winner in any of the categories.

• All entrants must be prepared to be photographed with their pigs for publication in The Springs Advertiser and on www.springsadvertiser.co.za
