Fatal crash leaves three dead and 23 injured

Duduza – A fatal taxi accident left three people dead and 23 injured, after two taxis collided on Friday morning.

The incident took place on Fred Wagenaar Road at about 6am.

According to the police’s Capt Johannes Ramphora, one of the taxis was coming from Nigel while the other was from Duduza.

“On the curve of this road, it is alleged that one of the taxi drivers lost control of the vehicle and hit the other.

“Jaws of Life had to be used to take people out of the taxi and two people died on the scene while one died at the arrival of Pholosong Hospital.

“The other passengers and both the drivers were injured and taken to Heidelberg, Sunshine, Pholosong hospitals for urgent medical treatment,” says Ramphora.

A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by the police.
