Man arrested for rape and bribery

Daveyton – The Benoni Intervention Task Team arrested a 32-year-old man on Monday on charges of rape and bribery.

According to the Daveyton police spokesman, Sgt Constance Moalusi, it is alleged by the complainant (27), that on December 29, she called her ex-boyfriend to meet her at Sinaba Stadium.

“The complainant says the purpose of the meeting was to hand over the ex-boyfriend’s umbrella, however, when at the stadium he asked the complainant to go with him to his place where they could talk more about their misunderstanding and she agreed.

“When they arrived at his place the man allegedly closed and locked the door and raped her,” says Moalusi.

The Daveyton SAPS opened and investigated a case of rape that lead to the arrest of the suspect on January 4, who according to Moalusi also offered the police R500 “to do away with the case”.

The man was arrested and will appear in the Daveyton Magistrate Court soon.
