Local pastor celebrates with senior citizens
Tsakane - Last Saturday, the Hour Of Revival Gospel Church honoured senior citizens of the community by hosting a lunch for them at the church in Tsakane.
Pastor David Mathebula also celebrated his birthday and sought to make it extra special by honouring the people he believes have played a huge role in shaping the country we live in today.
“We have to honour the people who have paved the way for us, they are treasures in our communities and therefore it is vital that we show them love and appreciation,” says Mathebula.
Coordinator of the event, Mxolisi Gungu, says they invited a number of senior citizens from local old age homes and surrounding communities.
“It is an honour to have senior citizens as part of our celebration, they are very dear to our hearts and we wanted them to know that we care for them,”says Gungu.
He adds that they will be doing this as an annual event to jointly celebrate Mathebula’s birthday and senior citizens.
“We want to thank the Ekurhuleni Mayoral Office for sponsoring us with refreshments for the 200 senior citizens that are present, this shows that our local government also cares for the elderly,” says Gungu.
The elderly were given messages of love and support by church members and the youth, who also entertained them with music.
