KwaThema Cricket Club trounce Springs Old Boys by 49 runs

KwaThema – The first team of the KwaThema Cricket Club won their first game against Springs Old Boys on Saturday, in the First Leg League.

This match was played at Pollack Park.

KwaThema lost the toss and were put to bat first while Springs opted to field first.

They were then bowled all out, for 127 runs at the change of innings.

Sibusiso Mavumengwane scored 21 runs for KwaThema, which was the highest round score.

“Things are not going well for us as the KwaThema Cricket Club, since we don’t have our usual team.

“For this reason, we had to introduce a lot of junior players into the senior team, who are just between the ages of 15 and 18, so they are struggling,” says head coach of KwaThema Cricket Club, Itumeleng Troy Ntsoane.

Though the team seemed to have been down in spirit, at the end of their innings, they held their heads high.

They fought hard despite the challenge of having young players, and in the end they managed to bowl out Springs for 78 runs, registering their first victory of the league.

They beat the Springs Old Boys team by 49 runs.
