The shooting allegedly took place between the deceased and two suspects at around noon.
According to Duduza police spokesman, WO Yakub Rasool, gunshots were heard and a suspect was seen fleeing.
The police were then called to the scene.
Upon the police’s arrival, there was a shoot-out between the police and the suspect, and multiple shots were fired, leaving one suspect injured.
Police then discovered the deceased body and an unlicensed firearm next to it, which police believe could belong to the suspects.
The deceased was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
Rasool says the injured suspect was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and an unlicensed firearm was seized from him.
The other suspect evaded arrest.
Cases of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm have been opened at the Duduza Police Station.
It is unclear at this stage what the altercation was about between the deceased and the two suspects.
