‘Revenge’ shooter arrested

KwaThema - One of the three attempted murder suspects involved in a shooting was caught and handed over to police.

The shooting took place at a tavern at Mthethwa Street in KwaThema on Saturday at around 7pm.

No one was injured.

Capt Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says three armed men stormed inside the tavern and approached a 23-year-old who works there.

He says it is alleged the suspects were there for a revenge following a fight with the victim earlier that day.

Ramphora adds the suspects then opened fire.

Tavern patrons managed to catch one of the men and police were called to the scene.

The 27-year-old man was arrested and will appear in court soon for attempted murder.

Police are still looking for the two other gunmen who managed to evade capture.
