DA host march against women abuse

Duduza - Last Saturday the DA Springs and Nigel constituency held a peace march against women and child abuse in Duduza.

To commemorate women’s month the party wanted to raise awareness in the community of Duduza, that women and child abuse is intolerant. They marched from JL Dube Street to the Zamani Grounds.

DA PR Clr, Zodwa Radebe, says that there are far too many women who are victims of abuse in the community and it can never be reiterated enough to the community, that it should stop.

“We can never stop raising awareness up until there are no more cases of women abuse; it’s an issue that really needs to be taken seriously by all the members of our communities,” says Radebe.

Resident Nomthandazo Ncwadi (45), says many women suffer because they do not talk about the abuse that they are facing in their homes in fear of what the abusers will do to them.

“Women are suffering in abusive relationships and it is time they break the silence and get help to start afresh because even children end up being abused in the process,” says Ncwadi.

The march ended with a sports day at the Zamani Grounds where local soccer teams played against each other in support of the peace march.
