Drive-by shooting leaves three dead

Two men and a woman were shot by unknown killers in KwaThema on Monday.

It is believed a vehicle with four occupants was parked in front of a house in Njengu Street at 7pm, when another vehicle drove past and opened fire on them.

When EMPD officers Louis Els, Louwtjie Du Toit and Danny Van Wyk arrived at the scene, they found the KwaThema police already there.

KwaThema police station commander Col Barry Mashaba confirms that an unknown vehicle pulled up in front of a house where a vehicle was parked and opened fire on the occupants of the car.

He claims AK-47 rounds were found on the scene.

The driver and his wife were killed instantly, while one of the passengers, who jumped out of the vehicle, was shot and died on the scene.

Mashaba says three people were killed during the shooting.

The fourth occupant of the parked vehicle managed to escape the ordeal to tell the story.

The motive of the killing is still unknown and KwaThema police are investigating.
