Local boxers hope to pack the punches

Langaville - Makhosonke Abrahams (26) from the Geo Maroon Boxing Club will take to the ring tonight (Friday) in a bout for the lightweight title.

His last fight was against Nelson Ramonos at the Soweto Community Hall in April, which he won on points.

Abrahams says he always heeds the advice of his coach, Themba Zulu, who told him when getting into the ring he needs to forget about his challenges and focus on defeating the opponent.

He aspires to be a world boxing champion one day.

Abrahams will take on Augaston Mahlangu at the Turffontein Racecourse tonight.

“I have been training hard to prepare for the fight and I am confident victory will be mine,”says Abrahams.

Clever Mdingi (43), also from the Geo Maroon Boxing Club, will be fighting Paseka Mapule in Thohoyandou, in the junior flyweight division championships.

Zulu is confident his boxers will win their fights.
