The robbery reportedly took place last Thursday at 2am.
Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says one of the five robbers threatened the guard with a firearm and jumped into a tractor that was parked on-site.
Ramphora says the suspects fled the scene with a stolen tractor. No shots were fired during the robbery and the police are investigating a case of business robbery.
“The tractor was later found abandoned at an open space in KwaThema,” says Ramphora.
