DJ makes a difference in the lives of others

Tsakane - Last Saturday, residents of Tsakane, eK FM volunteer deejay Gopolang Dintwe (27) and members of Christan Funeral Parlours in Tsakane took 14 recovering addicts to lunch at Tsakane Mall.

The aim of the outing was for the 14 young men to interact and discuss the challenges they face on a daily basis as recovering addicts and to motivate each other on how to beat temptation.

The young men are part of the Tsakane Youth Development Program (TYDP) which assists recovering addicts to reintegrate into society and also helps develop the Tsakane youth.

Dintwe, who works closely with the TYDP, explained that they wanted to do something for the young men on their road to recovery.

“We wanted the young men to feel special and remembered. By taking them out we were encouraging them to continue to stay sober as they try and change their lives,” said Dintwe.

He also pointed out that this will be a monthly outing which they will do with the young men.

Kamogelo Twala (22), one of the young men, said he appreciates what the TYDP has done for them and he thanked Dintwe for always being there throughout the recovery process.

“We are grateful for the second chance that we are receiving from community members like Dintwe, who believe we can change our lives and be better people in future,” said Twala.
