KwaThema – Last Saturday, the Sechaba Advancement Foundation hosted a youth empowerment conference at Maseke Street in KwaThema.

The theme of the conference was ‘Purpose and Destiny’, with the aim focusing on helping the youth to unleash their full potential and follow their destiny.

Motivational speakers encouraged the youth to focus on their dreams and empower themselves through education and reading.

Vusi Yende (35), founder of the foundation, explained the importance of hosting events like this as it encourages and motivates the youth of Kwatsaduza to continuously strive to be better people.

“We want our youth to realise their full potential and purpose, so they may be better community members and citizens,” says Yende.

Motivational speaker, Innocent Ximba (19), says that they want to change the way the youth views themselves and teach values to the youth that will make them future leaders.

The youth engaged in dialogues about eradicating unemployment, substance abuse and crime within the community.

Nkosana Mahlangu (21) says that he is happy that the foundation hosted such a programme to educate the youth about being purpose driven.

“We as young people need to be purpose driven in order to reach our dreams and destiny,” says Mahlangu.
